The Holidays

Christmas has always been a magical time for me… When I was younger and my grandmother was still alive, we used to gather with the whole family at her house. After my grandma passed away, my aunt took over the tradition and welcomed all of us at their house. My family lives in the South of Netherlands whereas we, me and my parents, used to live in Amsterdam. Christmas meant therefore two and a half hour drive down South with our usual stops at ‘wegrestaurants’, restaurants along the highway, and a mix of Motown and Christmas music on the radio.
At my aunts place, we would always get spoiled with the best ‘linzenvlaai’ in the world. Even though it translates as ‘lentilscake’, it has nothing to do with these little legumes, but instead is stuffed with a delicious filling of jam. The Christmas tree would be up and decorated for what I remember in a golden and red theme, completed with some beautifully wrapped Christmas presents for the children.
Because we lived in Amsterdam, Christmas would normally be one of the yearly moments that we would all be together so I would always be so excited to see everyone and catch up with everything that’s been happening. And as we all know, in most family gatherings, the kitchen is the place to be, it’s where the best conversations happen and some tea might be spilled. Younger me would feel cool to hang with the adults and as I grew older I might had some tea to spill myself as well hihi.
Even though I now live on the other side of the world and don’t get to spend Christmas like this anymore, these memories will always keep the magic of Christmas alive and it fuels the desire to create new memories…
For this Holiday Season collection I chose the theme of The Cozy Orange Holiday Cottage. I tried to both envision the coziness of getting together and the fun of getting all dressed up for Christmas dinner. The collection consists of a variety of accessories, ranging from pouches to scrunchies. The quote for this collection is: “Wrapped in love and wonder, every moment is a gift”, capturing the warm feeling of being around family and friends and the magic of the season that make these moments impossible to put down in words. I hope this collection brings you as much joy as my Christmas memories bring me.
With love,
Nicky
p.s.: To share these memories I created a nostalgic playlist with a mix of Motown and Christmas songs. You can find the playlist here or scan the following image.
